Job Overview:
As a Subject Matter Expert for FM Asia Operations, you will ensure the accurate, complete, and timely execution of Financial Markets post-trade activities that support Asia operations and help mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risk.
You will oversee daily operational processes across supported Financial Markets products, including FX and Money Markets, Derivatives, Securities, confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, life-cycle events, exception management, and control activities.
The role also requires managing escalations related to complex operational issues, stakeholder queries, failed settlements, reconciliation breaks, process exceptions, and control concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and execute daily Financial Markets post-trade processes accurately and on time, in line with ING’s operational standards, control requirements, and market practices.
Resolve complex operational exceptions, including trade capture issues, confirmation mismatches, settlement discrepancies, reconciliation breaks, and recurring process exceptions, escalating high-impact issues after proper analysis.
Engage with Front Office, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, clients, counterparties, and global stakeholders to resolve issues, clarify requirements, and support consistent service delivery.
Review processing procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, control, standardization, and service quality across FM Asia Operations.
Own and maintain process documentation, procedures, desktop guides, control narratives, and knowledge materials for the assigned scope.
Translate product, regulatory, client, system, and regional changes into clear operational impacts, readiness actions, and control requirements.
Review and approve high-risk or non-standard transactions prepared by processors, ensuring decisions are evidence-based, properly controlled, and documented.
Prepare reports and approved ad hoc requests accurately and within agreed timelines, using operational data to identify trends and recurring issues.
Coach and train junior team members through structured guidance, one-on-one support, knowledge transfer, and readiness checks.
Support audits, risk reviews, incidents, service reviews, business continuity activities, and post-implementation stabilization when required.
Perform Team Lead tasks and activities when required.
Key Capabilities and Experience
Experience in Financial Markets Operations, post-trade processing, risk and control, or related banking operations.
Strong understanding of Financial Markets products, market practices, trade life cycle, settlement, confirmation, reconciliation, risk, and process flows.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and exception-resolution skills.
Professional communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
Ability to organize work effectively, manage priorities, and deliver within deadlines.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to coach, support, and work effectively with team members.
