Job Summary

We are seeking a Head Coach to lead our swimming programme from Learn-to-Swim to Competitive Squads. This hands-on leadership role involves coaching senior squads, mentoring coaches, and driving a culture of excellence, safety, and enjoyment in swimming.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and oversee a structured swimming pathway ensuring clear progression from beginner to competitive levels

Coach senior and competitive squads by planning training programmes, race strategies, and periodisation for meets

Lead and mentor coaching staff by providing training, feedback, and performance reviews to enhance team capabilities

Establish and enforce coaching standards, safety protocols, and best practices across all programme levels

Identify and support swimmers’ progression into competitive squads through targeted development plans

Organize and manage swim meet participation, including entries, race planning, and on-deck coaching support

Monitor swimmer performance using data and feedback to refine coaching methods and improve outcomes

Build strong relationships with swimmers and parents by communicating progress, expectations, and programme updates

Collaborate with management to drive programme growth, class structure, and scheduling improvements

Ensure compliance with pool safety standards, child safeguarding policies, and swimming association regulations

Represent the club at swimming association events, competitions, and coaching networks

Preferred competencies and qualifications

Minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience (advantageous)

Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or equivalent

Ability to conduct programmes for babies, preschool, Learn to Swim, Competitive, and Adult swimmers

Fluency in English

Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming

Excellent communication skills with both children and adults

Ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers

Perseverance and patience in coaching and mentoring

Understanding of differentiated teaching methods in swim sessions

Professionalism, punctuality, and strong organizational skills for managing swimming classes and training
