Healthcare Assistant - WCAN

Responsibilities for Healthcare Assistant:

Ensure patient safety and provide care support under the supervision of Registered Nurses.

Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, oral care, nail care, and elimination needs.

Support patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and mobilisation as required.

Provide van escort assistance to support patient transportation to and from the Hospice.

Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, including weight, temperature, and blood pressure.

Support patients’ dietary needs by assisting with meal ordering, serving meals and beverages, and feeding assistance when required.

Manage food pantry operations, including food storage, stock monitoring, and ensuring food safety standards.

Maintain infection control standards through proper hand hygiene, waste disposal, standard precautions, and isolation practices.

Assist with administrative tasks including data entry, documentation, and filing.

Observe and promptly report patients’ conditions and changes to the Registered Nurse.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organised patient care environment.

Uphold patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

Keep updated with relevant healthcare guidelines and continuously develop job-related skills.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse, or Day Care Manager.

Qualifications for Healthcare Assistant:

Minimum GCE 'O' Level or Certificate in Healthcare Assistant

At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Patient Care Assistant

Passionate about delivering quality patient care and support.

Strong sense of responsibility with a compassionate, patient-focused, and courteous approach.

Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
