Senior Software Engineer (React/Java/AWS)

Location: West

Job Type: Full-Time Contract (Renewable basis)

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications in a government environment.

Develop backend services using Kotlin, Java and Spring Boot.

Build frontend applications using Svelte, React or Vue.

Design and integrate REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices and event-driven systems.

Deploy and support applications on AWS, including ECS, Kubernetes and Lambda.

Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Manage infrastructure using AWS CDK, Terraform or OpenTofu.

Implement application security controls and ensure compliance with government security requirements.

Support system modernisation, integration and legacy application environments.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of full-stack software engineering experience.

Strong experience with AWS, Kotlin/Java and Spring Boot.

Experience with Svelte, React or Vue.

Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous

Good understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases.

Experience with authentication, authorisation, encryption and audit logging.

Familiarity with security, regulatory or government compliance requirements.

Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
