Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Finance Executive to support the General Ledger and financial reporting function within a ship management environment. The role is responsible for month-end closing, accounts payable administration, cash flow forecasting, GST and tax compliance, audit support, and maintaining accurate financial records for vessel and corporate operations. Candidates with experience in IMOS (Integrated Maritime Operations System) and ship management finance will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Payment Administration
Manage the approval workflow for finance-related invoices and ensure timely processing of non-trade payments.
Review and verify accounting entries and payment batches for accuracy and compliance.
Coordinate payment processing in accordance with company procedures and approval limits.
General Ledger & Month-End Closing
Prepare and post General Ledger journal entries and supporting schedules.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation for month-end and year-end closing.
Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with accounting policies and reporting requirements.
Cash Flow & Financial Reporting
Prepare bi-weekly cash flow forecasts and monitor cash flow requirements.
Support monthly financial reporting by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and management reports.
Assist in monitoring operating expenses and budget performance across vessel and shore-based operations.
Tax, Audit & Compliance
Prepare quarterly GST returns and supporting schedules.
Support annual corporate tax filings and employee tax reporting, including IR8A and IR21 submissions where applicable.
Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit confirmations and supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and internal financial controls.
Ship Management Finance Support
Support the finance function for ship management operations, including vessel-related cost reporting and documentation.
Liaise with Technical, Crewing, Operations, and Procurement teams on finance-related matters.
Maintain accurate financial records and support reporting within the IMOS (Integrated Maritime Operations System).
Assist in ensuring vessel financial data, procurement records, and operational transactions are accurately captured within IMOS.
Other Duties
Support finance process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
Assist with ad-hoc finance projects and other responsibilities assigned by management.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in General Ledger, financial reporting, or finance operations.
Experience in a ship management company is highly preferred, with exposure to vessel accounting and maritime finance processes.
Hands-on experience with IMOS (Integrated Maritime Operations System) is highly preferred.
Good understanding of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, GST, month-end closing, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience supporting external audits and statutory reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems (SAP experience is an advantage).
Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Meticulous, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced maritime environment.
