Stellenbeschreibung

The Office of Health and Safety (OHS) champions health and safety management at NTU. OHS oversees university-wide programmes including biosafety, chemical safety, radiation safety, laboratory safety and occupational health.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Assistant Manager to support NTU's institutional chemical safety programme. The successful candidate will provide technical support on chemical risk management, hazardous materials governance and laboratory chemical safety, supporting world-class research and education activities across the University

Responsibilities

Support the development, implementation and review of NTU's chemical safety standards, policies and guidance documents to support safe and compliant research, teaching and operational activities.

Provide technical advice on hazardous chemicals, toxic substances, carcinogens, compressed gases, flammable materials and dangerous goods.

Coordinate and support institutional programmes relating to chemical safety, hazardous materials management and laboratory chemical compliance, including industrial hygiene, wastewater sampling and statutory medical examination programmes.

Monitor regulatory developments and provide guidance on emerging requirements and their implications for University operations.

Support regulatory inspections, audits and investigations involving chemical safety matters, and liaise with relevant authorities including MOM, NEA, SCDF, SPF and other agencies.

Serve as secretariat to institutional safety and health committees, supporting governance, coordination and implementation of safety and health initiatives across the University.

Support and coordinate enterprise-wide chemical safety initiatives, continuous improvement efforts and digital transformation projects to strengthen safety governance and operational effectiveness.

Manage safety and health applications, and perform data analytics on chemical safety trends, programme effectiveness and performance indicators to identify risks, compliance concerns and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Develop and deliver chemical safety training, awareness and competency programmes to strengthen stakeholder capabilities across the University.

Partner with Colleges, Schools, Research Institutes and administrative units to provide value-added safety and health solutions and promote a strong safety culture across NTU.

Requirements

Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field will be an advantage.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in chemical safety, laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials management, or occupational safety and health. Background in managing chemical safety programmes within universities, research institutions, pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, healthcare, or related sectors would be advantageous.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and chemical compliance programmes, coupled with a good understanding of local workplace safety and health, environmental and public health legislation, as well as permits, licences and regulated equipment administered by agencies such as SPF, NEA, MOM and SCDF.

Proven capability in implementing workplace safety and health programmes within office, facilities management and laboratory-based environments.

Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO), Registered Fire Safety Manager (FSM), ISO 45001:2018 Lead/Internal Auditor certification, or equivalent professional certifications will be advantageous.

Effective communication, report-writing, project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proficiency in leveraging GenAI tools to enhance productivity and work outcomes.

Independent, meticulous and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within timelines.
