About the role
Assembly Works is a Singapore-headquartered corporate services firm with offices in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, handling incorporation, corporate secretarial, accounting, tax, audit support and HR and payroll for founders, foreign expansion teams and family offices.
Our accounting line is growing and we are looking for an Accounts Supervisor to sit between the associates who prepare the work and the Head of Accounting who signs it off. It is a hands-on supervisory seat: you review the technical work, run the job board and coach a team of preparers, with real say in how the team operates.
Job Description:
Review full sets of accounts, monthly and quarterly management accounts, and bank and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the team.
Review unaudited financial statements compiled under SFRS and SFRS for Small Entities, including notes, disclosures and the compilation report.
Review corporate tax computations, Form C-S and Form C, ECI and GST returns before they reach the client or IRAS.
Allocate jobs across the team, set internal deadlines ahead of statutory ones, track progress weekly and clear backlogs early.
Coach the team through written review notes and technical training, and contribute to half-yearly performance reviews.
Act as the first point of technical escalation, raising partner-level matters with the Head of Accounting early.
Manage onboarding, scope, queries and progress updates for an assigned group of client accounts, flagging out-of-scope work so it can be quoted before it starts.
Support the migration of client accounts from Xero onto AW Books, our in-house bookkeeping platform.
Requirement
Degree or diploma in Accountancy, or ACCA, CA (Singapore) or CPA, fully or part qualified.
At least 5 years in an accounting firm or outsourced accounting function, including 2 years reviewing other people's work.
Solid working knowledge of SFRS, SFRS for Small Entities, Singapore corporate tax and GST.
Proficient in Xero and strong in Excel, and open to learning a new platform.
Able to run several client files at once without missing a deadline, and willing to flag risks early.
Advantageous: XBRL preparation and ACRA annual return filing experience; an audit background or experience working with auditors; exposure to regional clients or teams across Singapore and Malaysia; experience migrating clients between accounting systems.
