Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Senior Research Fellow positions in the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Established in 1959, the NUS Medicine Department of Pharmacology is a leading institution in Asia dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovative drug discovery and world-class education. The department is committed to improving patient care by developing innovative therapies and pushing the boundaries of medical discovery. Appointments will be made on a two-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Senior Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator as a founding team member to establish a new laboratory focus on AI-related RNA design. The role will contribute to the team’s research proposals and ongoing projects, with a particular emphasis on AI-driven biomedical experimentation, including AI agents, multimodal perception, and instrument execution.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Senior Research Fellow will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI), and will be able to:

Work closely with the PI and other team members to establish the new laboratory focused on AI-related RNA design and biomedical intelligence;

Undertake the day-to-day running of the projects in the team, e.g., conduct literature searches, perform detailed studies, and have group meetings with the PI to report the progress and communicate the next steps;

Assist the PI in preparing grant applications, and both progress and final reports of the projects;

Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures; and

Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

Hold a PhD or MD in Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated research experience in bioimaging, biomedical data analysis, or bio-related AI systems;

Be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail;

Strong expertise in developing and applying AI solutions to real-world healthcare challenges.

Proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, and advanced AI techniques; and

A good publication record and experience in grant applications are preferred.
