Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions across AWS and Linux/UNIX environments.

Define cloud infrastructure architecture, technical standards and implementation approaches aligned with business, security, availability and operational requirements.

Lead the design and deployment of AWS-based infrastructure, including EC2, AMIs, Auto Scaling and supporting platform services.

Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code and automation solutions using Terraform, Puppet, Packer, Jenkins and Git/GitLab.

Lead Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives and technical evaluations to assess cloud and infrastructure solutions.

Develop architecture and migration strategies for physical, virtual and cloud environments, including infrastructure modernisation and cloud adoption initiatives.

Design solutions that support high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, security and operational resilience.

Provide architecture guidance for enterprise Linux and UNIX platforms, including Red Hat Linux, Solaris, AIX and HP-UX environments.

Design and optimise Solaris environments using technologies such as ZFS and Solaris Zones.

Establish automated and repeatable processes for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.

Conduct architecture reviews, identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to enhance performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.

Provide technical leadership and architectural governance across infrastructure engineering teams.

Collaborate with application, security, cloud, network, vendor and business stakeholders to develop effective infrastructure solutions.

Support Production, Disaster Recovery, Test and Development environments to ensure service continuity and operational excellence.

Contribute to infrastructure security, compliance, audit readiness and system hardening initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to design and implement AWS cloud infrastructure and Linux-based solutions.

Knowledge and practical experience in architecting and supporting Red Hat Linux and enterprise UNIX platforms.

Experience using Puppet, Packer and Jenkins to support infrastructure automation initiatives.

Experience designing and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and Git/GitLab.

Proficiency in Bash/Shell scripting for system administration and automation.

Knowledge and practical experience with Solaris environments, including ZFS and Solaris Zones.

Experience designing and supporting Production, Disaster Recovery (DR), Test and Development infrastructure environments.

Understanding of server virtualisation, provisioning, patching, capacity planning and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery and enterprise infrastructure resilience principles.

Ability to evaluate business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, secure and resilient infrastructure solutions.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and technology partners.

Experience in infrastructure architecture reviews, technical governance and solution design for enterprise environments will be advantageous.
