Technical Lead (Sybase & PowerBuilder)

We are seeking a Technical Lead to spearhead the modernization and delivery of applications built on PowerBuilder and Sybase. In this role, you will act as the critical technical bridge between our clients and our offshore development centers, ensuring that complex requirements are translated into high-quality technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the customer. Translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and act as the bridge to the offshore delivery team.

Solution Design: Lead technical assessments of existing Sybase and PowerBuilder applications, design solution to migrate to new platform. Collaborate with offshore architects to finalize end-to-end solutions and ensure technical feasibility.

Delivery Oversight: Provide hands-on guidance to the offshore team throughout the SDLC. Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure the project meets client quality standards.

Deployment & Infrastructure: Manage application deployment cycles and provide support for cloud infrastructure environments, ensuring stability and performance.

Technical Qualifications

8+ years of experience with databases and back-end development.

May be required to provide standby/on-call support outside standard working hours, including weekends or public holidays, when required for critical system support.

Experience in developing and maintaining enterprise applications using PowerBuilder (versions 12.x through 2022 preferred).

Hands-on experience with Sybase and MSSQL, for schema, query & server.

Strong T-SQL - able to read and rewrite long, complex stored procedures.

Experience with Java or PowerBuilder application development.

Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and experience supporting application migration or deployment in cloud environments.

Architecture: Strong understanding of client-server architecture and modernizing legacy systems.

Leadership: Proven track record of leading offshore teams and delivering complex projects on schedule.

Preferred Experience

Experience in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) IT services sector.

Knowledge of modernizing PowerBuilder apps via REST APIs or C# Web APIs.

Experience with government or large-scale enterprise delivery frameworks.
