Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Air Freight Manager to lead and optimize our air freight and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational performance, regulatory compliance, team leadership, cost control, service quality, and business growth.

Responsibilities

Oversee end-to-end air freight import, export, cross-trade, and transit shipment operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

Manage bookings, shipment planning, Air Waybills (AWBs), customs clearance, manifests, permits, and supporting documentation.

Monitor shipments proactively and resolve delays, documentation discrepancies, customs issues, damaged or short-landed cargo, complaints, and claims.

Coordinate and maintain strong working relationships with airlines, co-loaders, ground handlers, overseas offices, network agents, customs authorities, trucking providers, vendors, and customers.

Supervise warehouse activities, including cargo receiving, inspection, labelling, storage, handling, loading, and release.

Monitor warehouse productivity and ensure compliance with safety procedures, security requirements, housekeeping standards, company SOPs, and applicable regulations.

Lead and motivate air freight office staff and warehouse teams while monitoring attendance, punctuality, workload, productivity, and individual performance.

Plan daily work schedules and allocate manpower according to shipment volumes and operational requirements.

Establish clear job responsibilities, performance expectations, and customer service standards.

Conduct regular performance reviews and promote teamwork, accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and training to strengthen team capabilities and address skill gaps.

Negotiate competitive freight rates, space allocations, and service arrangements with airlines, co-loaders, and other vendors.

Analyze shipment data to optimize routing, maximize consolidation opportunities, control operational costs, and improve gross profit margins.

Work closely with the sales team to provide timely and competitive pricing, support key-account onboarding, and identify new business opportunities in the air freight market.

Ensure all operations comply with Singapore customs requirements, TradeNet procedures, IATA regulations, dangerous goods requirements, and company policies.

Requirements

5 to 10 years of relevant experience in air freight operations and warehouse management within the freight-forwarding or logistics industry.

At least three years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of Singapore customs procedures, TradeNet permit declarations, IATA regulations, dangerous goods handling, and air freight documentation.

Proven ability to manage both office-based operational staff and warehouse ground teams.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and crisis-management capabilities.

Good commercial awareness, including freight procurement, cost control, and job profitability.

Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with international agents, airlines, vendors, authorities, and corporate customers.

Relevant IATA or dangerous goods certification will be an advantage.
