Role Overview
The Stage Manager is responsible for coordinating all rehearsal schedules, production run sheets, and live show execution. This role acts as the central link connecting cast, backstage crew, and technical teams to deliver seamless, punctual, and safe stage productions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Rehearsal & Performance Execution
Lead and manage daily rehearsal logistics, ensuring scenes, cues, and technical integration run on time.
Oversee live show operations, calling precision cues for cast entrances, lighting states, audio effects, and scenic shifts.
Maintain master production schedules, timelines, and prompt scripts/run sheets across all show cycles.
Ensure performances start and conclude strictly according to venue timetables.
Backstage & Technical Coordination
Supervise backstage crews to guarantee orderly wing transitions, safe scene changes, and swift costume turnarounds.
Direct the inventory, placement, maintenance, and safe handling of all props and stage furniture.
Liaise directly with audio-visual, sound, and lighting engineers to test, calibrate, and align technical elements before each show.
Manage operational contingencies and make immediate, decisive calls during unexpected live performance issues.
Cast & Crew Management
Act as the primary point of communication between artistic directors, technical teams, and performers.
Conduct pre-show briefings to align all personnel on special cues, house rules, and safety protocols.
Monitor backstage safety, enforcing venue workplace safety and health guidelines at all times.
Compile and distribute detailed daily rehearsal logs and show reports tracking attendance, run times, and technical notes.
Requirements
Proven background in stage management, theatre production, live entertainment, or corporate event operations.
Demonstrated experience in calling cues and managing live production run sheets.
Solid technical understanding of stagecraft, including theatrical lighting, sound boards, and AV setups.
Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and clear verbal communication skills under live production pressures.
Strong organizational abilities to coordinate complex schedules, multiple performers, and multi-disciplinary crews.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including split shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays aligned with performance runs.
