Remuneration: Up to $9,000 + AWS

About the role

This role sits within a cloud engineering team responsible for building and maintaining a scalable, secure platform that enables organisations to deliver reliable digital services using commercial cloud technologies.

The team focuses on developing platform automation, toolchains, processes, and best practices to support the design, deployment, and operation of cloud-based systems in an agile and secure manner.

We are expanding the team and welcome individuals who are interested in working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to impactful, large-scale platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, and operations of a cloud platform as part of an engineering team

Support and guide development teams in building and deploying applications on the platform

Implement large-scale automation solutions, including cloud landing zones across multiple cloud service providers

Develop and maintain shared platform services used by multiple teams or organisations

Apply DevOps practices to improve automation, system reliability, scalability, and resilience

Build and enhance backend services and APIs, focusing on automation and secure deployment pipelines (e.g. using Node.js, Python, CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Atlassian, Terraform)

Requirements

Experience in backend or API development

Experience with Terraform and scripting (e.g. Bash)

Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Experience with cloud infrastructure, deployment, and automation

Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a willingness to remain hands-on

Familiarity with agile development, secure CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation

Understanding of or willingness to learn Infrastructure as Code, Policy as Code, and version control (e.g. Git)

Interest in large-scale distributed systems and their challenges

Awareness of application security practices and open-source tools

Interest in automation and improving engineering efficiency

Familiarity with cloud landing zone concepts (e.g. AWS Control Tower, Terraform Landing Zone, Azure CAF)

Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and monitoring tools
